Let me walk you through the pedestrain
In the story the pedestrian it states how technology is taking away human beings from socializing. This story is informing us how this could affect the future. A theme for this story could be in a world where technology dominates lives of livings which will lead to lives with nothing. Therefore it states that their will be more technology taking over peoples lives then them doing other fun things like going to parties or just going outdoors to interact with nature. Also technology was to make our lives easier not to threaten humanity.
The tone use in this story shows us that it's becoming a major isssue for the world. The author uses atmosphere because he developes a tone through his word choice. He also uses this type of tone because he is pointing out a problem which could affect human life's being in the futue more then it already is. Also another tone he uses is loneliness because he wants to point out that by the year 2053 people will feel isolated. Now people are watching tv and don't interact with others and they are never outside because of technology. Therefore this sets a tone of isolation for the world.
The characters in this story that are important are Leonard Mead and the robotic car. The character Leonard Mead was the protaginist of the story because in the story it menttions "the only human being who is sseen in the city" which demonstrates how through out the story how his life changes and now he is removed from nsociety. Also the robotic car because it demonstrates to use that sooner or later society and the world will be run by machines becuase human beings are being islolated. Another thing why the robotic car is imprtant is because it helped us understand that eventually if we keep isolating ourselves our jobs and opportunites will be taking by machines.
However the plot of the pederstrain that Leonard mead loved to walk instead of using technology just like any nights he alway walks. Also while he walks past the houses he wisphers to himself and asks questions. Another thing is that a night he was walking when he got pulled over by a police car who is a robotic which makes the police think he is crazy because he doesn't use technology. But this is a way to see how population of human beings will be disapperaing.
